To the end of October CFM had logged orders for nearly 2,200 commercial, military and spare engines at a value of around US$24 million at list price.

Speaking at the airshow, Ebanga said: “We have solid orders for more than 1,200 CFM56 engines but the orders for the current product line have nearly been matched by LEAP engines. So far, we have 910 orders for the LEAP-1A to power 455 Airbus A320neos, while we anticipate that many of the nearly 600 commitments for the new LEAP-1B-powered Boeing 737 MAX will be confirmed.”

At the same time, CFM has also achieved record production rates for the CFM56 product line, having built more than 1,000 engines a year since 2006. In 2011, the company is on track to deliver more than 1,300 engines – 50 more than last year – and current plans are for the total to reach more than 1,600 engines a year by 2014.

Ebanga concluded: “We’re proud that every single CFM56 engine built to date – nearly 23,000 of them – has been delivered on time and these rates are unprecedented in our industry.”

The record year was 2007, when CFM received orders for more than 2,700 engines.
