Barco wins order for Mid East helicopter avionics

Within the scope of this program, Barco's MDU-268 displays will be combined with an RN6 Digital Map Generator from EuroAvionics to create a sophisticated mission display solution.

“The MDU-268 mission display will present the helicopter crew with a dedicated imaging solution, compatible with FLIR, high-definition daylight video cameras, moving maps, computers and radar,” says Robert Sanders, Senior Executive over Defense and Avionics Division, at Barco. “Moreover, the display sets itself apart with its very compact footprint and low power consumption, which makes it easier for system integrators to integrate the unit in virtually any cockpit or cabin environment.”

The MDU-268 is a recent addition to Barco's cockpit display offering, derived from the company's CHDD-2000 family. Equipped with the latest, sunlight-readable AMLCD technology, the 6x8 inch display delivers excellent brightness and contrast, as well as a wide viewing angle of 80° in all directions. Because of this, the same unit can be used in portrait as well as landscape mode. The MDU-268 is DO-178B and DO-254 certified.
