TATV INSIGHT: How Afghanistan NATO leader adds collaboration insight to Lockheed Martin

General John W Nicholson, known affectionally as “Mick”, was the commander of all US Forces and the 41 nation NATO-led coalition in Afghanistan from 2016 to 2018.

Before that he commanded NATO’s Allied Land Command and was Commanding general of the 82nd Airborne Division. In earlier years as an infantry officer, he lived in Europe and the Middle East forging close relationship with security leaders in those regions.

He has been recognised as a great mentor, and it is no wonder that on retirement he was welcomed to industry.

In December last year, he was appointed chief executive for Lockheed Martin in the Middle East with responsibility for Lockheed’s strategy operations and growth in the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, and Pakistan.

In this programme he talks to Alan Peaford about what drew him back to the region and how his experience is being used to support Lockheed Martin’s partnership plans in the region.
