X2 milestone for Sikorsky
Sikorsky has achieved a major milestone in its X2 demonstrator programme by successfully ground testing the aircraft with the pusher propeller installed and spinning for the first time.
The test conducted last week but announced today, used the fly-by-wire pitch control system with the rotating, high-speed pusher propeller for the first time. The testing has been continuing at Sikorsky’s Schweizer Aircraft Corp. rapid-prototyping facility in New York since the demonstrator’s first flight on August 27 last year.
