The Russian all-weather coaxial Ka-32A11BC helicopter is equipped with a horizontal firefighting system and the company says it is an efficient tool in combating fires on top floors of high rise buildings and skyscrapers, including the densely populated conditions in the region's major cities. The helicopter can be used in fighting fires that ground apparatus cannot reach or has difficulty in reaching.

When working in the midst of fire in heavy turbulence, the coaxial rotors of the Ka-32A11BC have a number of advantages in stabilising the rotorcraft and offering it additional maneuverability. This allows the helicopter accurate firefighting while hovering as close as possible to the source of fire.

Speaking at Asian Aerospace in Hong Kong today Victor Egorov said places like the Gulf and Southern China were building higher and higher buildings and there is recognition that fires in such buildings are difficult to fight.

The number of various specialised equipment options for the Ка-32А11ВС numbers over 40. It includes the Bambi-Bucket and Simplex systems of various capacity, water cannons for horizontal firefighting, foldable rescue cabins of various capacity, and other equipment. The helicopter is also used in external cargo transportation and complex high-altitude construction.

According to Russian Helicopters experts, helicopters equipped with horizontal firefighting systems are in high demand in today’s world. The existing Russian-made system installed on the Ka-32A11BC is in use by the Russian EMERCOM and has proved its efficiency. Russian Helicopters engineers are continuing their efforts to further improve such systems to raise the efficiency of the firefighting version of the helicopter.

The Ка-32А11ВС was designed by the Kamov design bureau, a part of the Russian Helicopters industry holding. Mass production is based at Kumertau Aviation Production Enterprise. Over 140 have been built and are currently operated in over 30 countries worldwide.
