TATV Spotlight: Why business aviation is riding high

As commercial air transport sees numbers falling, business aviation is picking up the pieces, and nowhere more so than in Dubai.

In this TATV Spotlight programme, Jill Stockbridge talks to Holger Ostheimer, the managing director of the DC Aviation Al Futtaim joint venture company based at Dubai World Central – the new business aviation centre in Dubai.

DC Aviation  from Germany has teamed up with UAE company Al Futtaim to bring together the European company’s years of experience in the sector with the Al Futtaim understanding of the legendary Arab hospitality values.

The result is a business that covers the whole gamut of the sector from aircraft management and charter, FBO and handling services, aircraft maintenance right through to consulting.

In the programme Ostheimer explains how the business and on-demand air transport sector survived the pandemic and reached new customers. He also gives thought on the venture’s major customer base in India and the concern over the Indian variant of Covid but with a positive message on the future of business aviation.
