TATV NEWSROUND - April 1, 2021

This edition of Newsround looks at the divisions in South Africa over its national carrier SAA as the airline faces accusations over safety failings, wasting cash and not resolving the rescue processes.

Special correspondent Guy Leitch gives the background to the latest rows and gives his ideas on what the future holds for the beleaguered airline.

Marcelle Nethersole runs through the news highlights of the past two weeks and looks at the building of the world’s largest jet engine – with improved emissions at its heart – as well as seeing the last of the A380 superjumbos take to the skies on its way to joining the Emirates fleet.

We also hear from managing director of Mena Aerospace in Dubai, Dr Mohammed Juman, about the plans for the business aviation specialist to move into the cargo market.

And as we mark the anniversary of the Covid-19 lockdowns and shutdowns that has so ravaged the aviation industry we see a short film of how one Middle Eastern carrier navigated its way through the pandemic.
