“The history of military technical cooperation of ‘MiG’ Corporation with countries of Africa has been going on for about 50 years. During these years more than 2000 MiG aircraft of second, third and fourth generation has been supplied to the national Air Forces of countries of this region. All of the aircraft had the experience of combat employment during local military conflicts in the territory of the region,” said director general of ‘MiG’ Corporation Ilya Tarasenko, having added that MiG-35 is a very interesting proposal for African partners from the point of view of the cost-effectiveness criterion.
New aircraft complex has high level of unification for maintenance on airfields earlier adapted for the use of MiG aircraft of previous generation. All parts of the aircraft have been produced with the use of corrosion protection, which is an important advantage for storage, maintenance and operation in hot climate.
The export version of MiG-35 aviation complex has been designed in accordance with the requirements of potential foreign customers, and differs by changed airframe shape as well as by updated radar system. New MiG-35 version provides for equipping with active phased array radar, which is capable of locking and tracking up to 30 air targets simultaneously, opto-electronic reconnaissance complex, as well as optical locator station for search, tracking and view of air, ground and above-water area. Radar modular system and software open architecture enable to use all existing weapons nomenclature of serial and future air weapons and integrate the customer’s weapons.
