Dubai Airshow: Nigerian carrier goes for 10 new aircraft

With the largest population and GDP in Africa, Nigeria offers substantial growth potential in both domestic and regional travel, making the A220 an ideal choice for a full range of services from short-haul segments to intra-continental air routes.

Ibom Air currently operates a fleet of five CRJs. The addition of the A220s will enable the state-owned airline to increase its footprint in Nigeria’s domestic market, as well as across the African continent.

Speaking at the signing, Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Udom Emmanuel, said: “Today is a major milestone in history of Nigerian aviation. It reflects our commitment to making a positive socio-economic growth in Akwa Ibom state and Nigeria.”
