The Bahrain International Airshow is organised by the Bahrain Ministry of Transportation & Telecommunication and the Royal Bahraini Air Force in partnership with Farnborough International Ltd (FIL). BIAS takes place on a biennial basis offering high level business opportunities to 40 participating companies operating from luxury chalet units.
MAPS, strategically timed to pre-curser BIAS, would see invited speakers and panels from Chiefs of Air Forces from over 20 countries in the MENA region and other key locations coming together to discuss the leading issues of the day. "The Manama Air Power Symposium (MAPS) will be a highly important event to take place at a critical period the region is going through. It will provide an opportunity for senior commanders of allied air forces to meet and exchange views on tactics and strategies to combat terrorism and deal with modern-day threats,” said INEGMA CEO, Riad Kahwaji. Speaking about the symposium.
Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, minister of transportation and telecommunications for Bahrain and member of the Supreme Organising Committee for BIAS said, “We are delighted to host the Chiefs of Air Forces to the Kingdom and the Bahrain International Airshow. With the Kingdom’s airport expansion programme, major new sea port in operation and improved roads links to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain is increasingly being recognised as a strategic logistical location in the Middle East. The Manama Air Power Symposium is a reflection of this and we look forward to welcoming them to the Kingdom.” Riad Kahwaji, further added, "MAPS will be an open forum to discuss new technologies to enhance air operations and talk about future aviation technology. Bahrain is a vital partner with an important role in safeguarding regional security and hence is an ideal venue to host strategic events like BIAS and MAPS. I am delighted to be working closely with RBAF, the Bahrain Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunication and Farnborough International team to put on a successful conference."
Amanda Stainer, commercial director at Airshow consultants, Farnborough International Ltd, also commented: “This announcement is great news for participants at BIAS and will bolster the events already strong military delegations programme. With the addition of The Future of Air Transport in the 21st Century conference and the Hosted-Buyer at the show, BIAS will offer all its participants excellent networking opportunities.”
