Ahmed Al Jallaf, Assistant Director General of Air Navigation Services at the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority, said the selection was made late last month and work on the study – seen as the first step in a GCC Airspace Optimisation Project - will begin early next month. The study is expected to take about a year to complete.
Al Jallaf said the study’s scope covers how a regional FIR can enhance airspace safety and efficiency, improve air traffic capacity and standarise air traffic procedures and operations.
