The announcement was made at the Passenger Terminal EXPO in Geneva.
The awards are voted for by airport customers from around the world. This year the survey garnered 12.1 million responses.
Singapore Changi Airport was voted the World’s Best Airport for the fourth time.
Durban King Shaka International Airport had double reason to celebrate, finishing second in the African section and also being named as the world’s third best domestic airport.
Johannesburg (OR Tambo International, South Africa) was third best airport in Africa followed by Cairo International (Egypt), Mauritius International, East London (South Africa), Addis Ababa Bole International (Ethiopia), Port Elizabeth (South Africa), Marrakech Menara International (Morocco).
Seychelles International Airport rounded out the top ten.
