Gulf Air performs low emission Flypast at Bahrain Grand Prix

Gulf Air has performed a low emission flypast at the 2023 Formula 1 season opener over the Bahrain International Circuit.

Gulf Air unveiled its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with its new corporate identity at the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2018, and will perform its iconic flypast this evening using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) for the third year in a row.

Chief executive officer Captain Waleed AlAlawi said: “For the third year in a row, we mark the beginning of the race with a truly special low emission flypast as a commitment to our future strategy to explore the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in our aircraft and standing by our commitment to lower our carbon emissions. In accordance to our ESG principles and our environmental awareness, we are committed to the shared vision of the aviation industry to achieve its emission reduction targets, and each year, Gulf Air is delighted to perform our annual and low emission flypast, which people came to enjoy and expect with every F1 race.”

Gulf Air has been the title sponsor of the Bahrain Grand Prix since it made history in April 2004 as the first Formula 1 Grand Prix to be held in the Middle East. Since then, the airline has been instrumental in the success of the event and the benefits it has brought to Bahrain’s economy. Gulf Air is a proud ambassador for Bahrain and of its role in supporting the Kingdom’s diversification in areas such as tourism. The airline is also the Official Carrier of biennial Bahrain International Airshow since its launch in 2010.
