RJ boss Hussein Dabbas said: "This is the first code-share agreement between S7 and a oneworld member since S7 was voted onboard the alliance as a member elect, to join in 2010.

"RJ will operate Airbus A320s on this route, whereas the agreement applies on all types of aircraft operated by RJ on this sector," he added. "The code-share agreement between RJ and S7 is a free flow agreement whereby S7 may sell as many seats on each Amman-Domodedovo flight as RJ, with no limitation to the number of seats sold by S7," he added.

Under the agreement, Royal Jordanian will operate three flights a week - on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Departure from Amman is scheduled at 10:45 and from Moscow Domodedovo at 16:35, local time.

Dabbas said that the two companies are planning to expand this code-share agreement in the near future, once S7 gets necessary approvals on Moscow-St. Petersburg sector; RJ will also place its code on this sector. This will offer new opportunities for passengers and boost tourism, as well as serving the needs of business travellers and students between Jordan and Russia.

S7, which was selected as a candidate to join the oneworld global alliance in May 2009, is now actively conducting work to integrate its operations and processes with other members of the alliance, in order to obtain full membership next year.
