Non-stop daily fights to Uganda's capital Entebbe are scheduled to begin on 2 November, which occurs four years after the carrier launched flights to Tanzania's capital Dar es Salaam. Qatar currently serves 15 destinations on the African continent, and its gulf rival Emirates also offers flights from its Dubai hub to Entebbe.

The new Entebbe flights are followed on 30 November by the launch new daily nonstop flights from Doha to Azerbaijan's capital of Baku with continuing service to Georgia's capital of Tbilisi.

All the new flights are being operated with Airbus A320s featuring 12 business and 132 economy seats.

Qatar Airways this year is planning several route expansions including new flights to Shiraz, Iran, Venice, Italy and Montreal, Canada in June, Kolkata, India in July, Sophia, Bulgaria in September and Oslo, Norway in October.

The airline also plans to bolster its capacity to Saudi Arabia beginning in June from 35 to 60 flights per week across four cities.

The expansion includes new flights to Medina, with four flights per week being offered by Qatar with its dual class A320s.

The airlines' capacity expansion in Saudi Arabia includes growing to double-daily service to both Jeddah and Riyadh, and a rise in weekly flights to Dammam from 21 to 28.
