New appointments at Etihad regional centres

Etihad Airways has appointed Nabil Matarweh Hijazine as the airline's new Country Manager for Kuwait. He takes over from Magdi Labib, who now is responsible for commercial activities in Cairo.

Formerly Manager of the airline’s Tehran office, Mr Hijazine, who has over 25 years’ aviation experience, will manage all commercial operations in Kuwait.

Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, said: “Kuwait is pivotal to Etihad’s growth strategy and we are delighted to welcome Nabil to this important post.

“Nabil has acquired a wealth of experience and expertise in the airline industry over a number of decades, and we will be able to use his extensive knowledge and contacts in the Middle East region to further accelerate the success of our operations in Kuwait.”

Prior to joining Etihad Airways, Mr Hijazine worked as Country Manager for Qatar Airways in Algiers and Jordan. He has also held a variety of senior sales positions in Jordan working for Emirates, Air France, British Airways and Royal Jordanian Airways. In addition to his airline experience, Nabil has also managed a leading travel agent in Jordan.

Etihad commenced operations to Kuwait in July - 2006 and currently operates 21 flights a week between its home base in Abu Dhabi and Kuwait.
