Lawson becomes chairman of Dubai's Project Phoenix

Lawson has served as an active business consultant to the company since it was founded in early 2007 and will now take a more formal role in the direction and management of Project Phoenix as Chairman.
“We are delighted that John has accepted our offer to join as Board Chairman, and has, in fact, taken an equity position in the company,” said Project Phoenix President Mike Cappuccitti. “Some interesting projects and opportunities are presenting themselves this year and John will be invaluable in helping us map out a strong strategic direction.”
“I have been involved with Project Phoenix since its inception and take pride in what has been accomplished to date,” said John. “Although our industry is struggling in today’s economic conditions I see a bright future for the VIP airliner conversion segment and am delighted to be able to play a part in the emergence of Project Phoenix as a key player in this market.”
John Lawson, who joined Canadair as Director-Program Management for the Challenger Jet in 1980, has enjoyed a long career with Canadair/Bombardier holding executive positions in Government Requirements, Customer Support, and International Sales and Marketing. In 1995 John was appointed President of Bombardier Business Aircraft Sales where he had responsibility for the worldwide marketing and sales of all Learjet and Bombardier corporate jets.
John retired from Bombardier in 2001 and currently sits on several charitable and aviation related Boards
