Coppell with help develop and implement a corporate environmental strategy for the airline.

Etihad’s chief executive James Hogan said: ““Etihad is committed to being an environmentally responsible airline and the appointment of Linden is an important step towards achieving that goal. She has tremendous experience in the field of environmental affairs and we are thrilled to welcome her to the airline.”

Linden’s will begin by expanding Etihad’s existing environmental management programmes to include a wide variety of projects from resource conservation and waste management to addressing the global environmental challenges that face the aviation industry.

She will review the airline’s climate change position and develop a carbon management strategy to ensure the implementation of a comprehensive series of measures to manage emissions as well as identifying environmental risks associated with future carbon constraints.

Under Linden’s supervision Etihad will drive eco-efficiency throughout the organisation by recycling and re-using resources as well as introducing a regular environmental management update for company staff to provide the Etihad workforce with information on environmental issues such as the impact of the European Union emissions trading scheme on the aviation industry.
