Etihad appoints Iran manager

Etihad Airways has appointed Nabil Matarweh Hijazine as the flag carrier's country manager for Iran.

Based in Tehran, Hijazine will be responsible for managing the airline’s commercial operations in Iran. The airline currently serves Tehran from Abu Dhabi three times weekly but has hopes for further expansion.

Geert Boven, Etihad Airways’ executive vice president sales and services said: “Nabil’s extensive commercial experience in the Middle East will be invaluable in his new role as our country manager in Iran. He understands the challenges faced by the aviation industry and the importance of the Iranian market in the global growth plans of Etihad Airways.”

The UAE’s GCAA signed an MoU with Iran’s CAOIRI which grants Etihad the rights to operate 43 additional weekly flights between Abu Dhabi the Iranian cities of Tehran, Shiraz, Mashhad, Esfahan and Kish.
