ST's Chan moves to Abu Dhabi to head ADAT

Middle East MRO giant Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT) - a subsidiary of Mubadala has appointed a new chief executive to oversee the integration with SR Technics and help steer the company into Asian expansion.

Jeremy Chan will head the team driving the company’s ambitious growth strategy and which has the aim to expand in the Asian MRO market

In a statement, Mubadala said the company will seek to further diversify its portfolio across airframe, engine and component maintenance services as it seeks to become a total-care provider.   Chan succeeds John Byers who returns to the parent company Mubadala Aerospace, where he will resume his role in business development.

The appointment is in line with ADAT’s stated objective to develop a Total-Care business model,. Chen joins ADAT following a distinguished career in the MRO industry where he most recently steered the ST Aerospace group and oversaw its expansion into a total aviation support business culminating in his tenure as Deputy President, having successfully focused and managed the growth of ST Aerospace Component and Engine Total Support Business. HIs 25 years of aviation experience also includes successful tenures at Honeywell and Pratt & Whitney.

We have strong faith in Jeremy’s ability to drive the business forward and realize ADAT’s enormous potential alongside other industry leading players," said Homaid Al Shemmari, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies and Executive Director of Mubadala’s Aerospace Unit.

The company plans to build upon the recent landmark transactions with major OEMs to achieve and sustain a pre-eminent global market position.

In addition to becoming the 16th member to join the Airbus MRO Network, ADAT completed a stellar year in 2009 having landed deals with major engine manufacturers like Engine Alliance, IAE, Rolls-Royce and GE, the latter coming as part of a wider multi-billion dollar collaboration between ADAT’s parent company Mubadala, and General Electric whereby ADAT is set to become the world’s first GE network member shop for the GEnx -1B and -2B engines.
