Saudi's GACA grants approvals to ATS for B737 interiors projects

The GACA certification allows ATS to pursue opportunities in performing heavy maintenance and installations of interior furnishings, entertainment systems, antennas and cameras on Boeing 737 series aircraft flying or to fly under registration of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
This follows the company’s success last year in achieving certifications with United Arab Emirates’ authoirity CGAA for CAR 145 approvals.
The certification was granted as a pre-requisite to ATS performing work installing the Lumexis FTTS Inflight Entertainment System on 44 flydubai post-delivery modification 737-800 aircraft which began in October 2010.
The PDM work included adding or modifying a feature/features of the aircraft (such as interiors, paint and IFE) coming out of production from the OEM and prior to being delivered to the customer or entering service.
“We continue to be proactive in responding to our customer’s needs in providing MRO services to the world wide market,” says Philip Fields, ATS VP Business Development. “This additional certification means more operators will be able to take advantage of our close proximity adjacent the aircraft OEM such as performing post delivery modification work before their aircraft enters service.”
ATS is located just 30 miles from Boeing’s narrowbody aircraft production facility and adjacent to Boeing’s widebody production facility on Paine Field in Everett, Washington. “Installing Lumexis IFE systems on flydubai aircraft is an excellent example of PDM work we’re targeting in our campaign to take advantage of our close proximity,” Fields said.
