Mubadala MRO firm hits milestone in Malta

In addition to the heavy maintenance checks, the Malta team has also completed eight end-of-lease (EOL) checks for the airline, a further four are planned to be completed by the end of 2012. All work is completed out of SR Technics’ two-bay hangar at Safi Aviation Park.

Speaking at the ceremony, André Wall, President of SR Technics, said: “This is a proud moment for us. Less than two years ago we set up operations in Malta, with a new facility and team. Today, through this high-performing team’s dedication to achieving best in class quality and reliability we have delivered all 50 aircraft on time, a huge achievement”

“The team has also been able to reduce the turnaround time for heavy maintenance checks from 14 to 10 days, bringing about increased operational efficiency for each aircraft for easyJet. It is results like these that show why we chose Malta to be our Center of Excellence for narrowbody aircraft. We look forward to continuing to support easyJet’s narrowbody maintenance requirements out of Malta for years to come and further developing our strong strategic partnership.”

Malta’s Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said this landmark news, was a testament to the growth and success being achieved by the UAE comapny's operation in Malta.

Gonzi said: “Malta continues to position itself as an aircraft maintenance centre of international repute. In less than two years, the SR Technics operation in Malta has already built a reputation further enhancing Malta’s attractiveness. The operation is expanding and increasing its workforce and contributing to the growth of this economic industry.”

“The work undertaken by the Maltese facility on easyJet’s fleet confirms the dedication and high standards of the Maltese workforce. Government is continuing to invest in education and infrastructure in order to sustain the growth of this industry. The newly opened Safi Aviation Park will continue to position Malta as an attractive destination for investment.”
