Dubai 2011: AgustaWestland and Abu Dhabi Aviation form JV

AgustaWestland and Abu Dhabi Aviation are forming a joint venture (JV) in the UAE to provide helicopter maintenance and strengthen customer support activities in the Middle East.

The JV will operate under the newly-established banner of AgustaWestland Aviation Services.

Under the terms of the agreement the business, based in Abu Dhabi, will carry out a range of services including helicopter and component repair and overhaul, supply of spares and accessories, customisations, modifications and upgrades. The scope of the JV could be expanded further to include the development of special configurations, component production and helicopter assembly.

The agreement was signed at the show by AgustaWestland CEO Bruno Spagnolini and Abu Dhabi Aviation chairman Nader Ahmed Mohammed Al Hammadi, who said: “The demand for helicopter maintenance across the Middle East is growing and providing this service at the doorstep of our clients is a benefit that will see huge returns in terms of overall industry growth.”
