Afriqiyah Airways signs 10-year OnPoint solution agreement for CFM56 Fleet

Afriqiyah Airways has signed 10-year OnPointSM solution agreement for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of its CFM56-5B engine fleet. The agreement is valued at more than $50 million (USD) over the life of the contract.

Afriqiyah Airways had ordered 28 CFM56-5B engines to power its Airbus A320 aircraft.  There are currently 14 engines in service.  CFM56-5B engines are the product of CFM International, a 50/50 joint company between General Electric Company and Snecma (SAFRAN Group).

"We are very pleased to select GE Aviation as our MRO provider for the repair and maintenance of the CFM56-5B engines to our fleet," said Eng Rammah Ettir, CEO of Afriqiyah Airways.

Tom Gentile, vice president and general manager of services for GE Aviation said: “The OnPoint solution agreement will enable Afriqiyah Airways to have access to OEM repairs and material to help the airline keep their engines in top performing condition.”
