MEBA10: Harrods' sparkling winter deal at Luton
With the first severe weather of the winter in England, Harrods Aviation has done a timely deal to offer customers aircraft de-icing at London Luton Airport. The company chose specialist provider, Glistening Jets, to deliver the dedicated service.

Glistening Jets has invested £250,000 in facilities and a new de-icing rig at London Luton to ensure it can exclusively support Harrods’ customers 24-hours a day. The new rig is capable of de-icing all sizes of aircraft handled by Harrods at the airport.
A Harrods Aviation spokesperson said: “From past experience customers have suffered delays at the hands of other service providers as their priority is always, rightly or wrongly, to get commercial traffic moving at the airport. With a dedicated de-icing rig based on our ramp at Luton, they are here on standby for Harrods customers only.”
The spokesperson added: “Crucially, Glistening Jets will also provide a snow clearing service for us to ensure the ramp and taxi way areas around our facility are free of snow. We will no longer be reliant on the airport for any winter weather services on or at our facility.’
