After an online live demonstration to a group of IATA senior managers, the Calogi team were able to confirm that their e-Air Waybill (e-AWB) solution fully met the IATA requirements.

The IATA e-AWB removes the requirement for a paper air waybill (AWB), simplifying the airfreight process for the supply chain. There is no longer a need to print, handle or archive the paper AWB.

An e-AWB means more accurate information, more confidentiality, more efficiency, as well as the opportunity to reduce costs (no paper handling and archiving). It also means faster air freight shipments.  For example, there will no longer be delays due to the paper AWB being misplaced or lost.

The e-AWB online demonstration presented by Patrick Murray, Head of Calogi Worldwide Cargo Distribution Network, provided a unique opportunity for the IATA managers to directly assess and evaluate Calogi’s e-freight capabilities and see first hand how the portal’s state-of-the-art features can support IATA’s  e-freight  initiative.

Patrick Murray said, “We have been working with IATA for more than two years to address how we can best support their e-freight initiative. I am delighted that our efforts in this area have been recognised, and that together with IATA we can fully implement e-freight in this region.” Patrick added, ‘We are implementing Calogi in the GCC. With Calogi’s e-freight enabling green technology, I truly believe that the need for transporting paper documents with the shipment will become a thing of the past."

Since its Dubai launch in July 2008, the number of Calogi subscribers and transactions has experienced phenomenal growth. The companies subscribing to the portal currently number more than 320, with a user base in excess of 1,100. With more than 1.5 million transactions under its belt, Calogi is already the largest Air Cargo Portal in the Middle East.

Calogi has also recently won the prestigious CIO Top 20 technology award.

Calogi’s e-freight solution, c-Flash, also supports shipper-to-agent and agent-to-agent document transfer and is a part of the existing Calogi product range, which includes a number of dedicated seamless solutions: c-ePro for export agent forwarders; c-iPro for import agent forwarders; c-Power for airlines and GSAs; c-eBridge for export air cargo terminal handlers; c-iBridge  for import air cargo terminal handlers and c-Switch for messaging (Electronic Data Interchange with subscriber host systems).
