Turkey's Pegasus wins two awards

Leading low-cost airline, Pegasus, has won two awards at the annual Airfinance Journal Deal of The Year Awards organised by Airfinance Journal.

A panel of expert judges, made up of senior aviation finance and independent executives, named Pegasus Airlines the winner of the “Tax Lease Deal of the Year” and “Airline Treasury Team of the Year” categories for 2020.

 

Pegasus Airlines was awarded the “Tax Lease Deal of the Year” award for securing €55m JOLCO financing for an Airbus A321neo aircraft delivery, due to the innovative structure of the transaction, and for being the first aircraft ever delivered fully remotely from a manufacturer's production line.

 

The Pegasus Airlines Aircraft Finance Team excelled at diversifying its financing channels by closing deals with different structures last year including: Insurance-backed financing product Balthazar financing, ECA-backed financing and JOLCO financings for new deliveries. The team also secured the exit of some of its Boeing 737-800s via the sale and leaseback market, and were awarded “Airline Treasury Team of the Year” for the success achieved from their efforts.
