Selex demonstrates its technology to Turkish partners

Italian company Finnmeccanica subsidiary Selex is making a major push into Turkey and is demonstrating a number of its products at the IDEF 2011 (International Defence Industry Fair) which opened at the Tuyap Fair Convention and Congress Centre in Istanbul today.

Selex is showing its communications solutions for cockpit control panels and lighting systems featuring A400M and C-130 military transport aircraft and HURKUS Turkish basic trainer, as well as the Helicopter Electronic Warfare Suite (HEWS) program.
Selex operates in Turkey through SELEX Komünikasyon AS (SELEX Turkey) from which it delivered crucial systems for the Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) program of the Turkish Air Force, as part of the Peace-Eagle project, and the selection in 2005 for the provision of internal and external lighting systems for the European
scale Future Large Aircraft A400M program, in which Turkey takes part.
Other projects developed and carried out by the company, with the support of the Turkish Defence Ministry and the Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM), include maintenance activities for VHF/UHF communications systems, the supply of IFF (Identification Friend/Foe) interrogators for the NATO AWACS air fleet, the turnkey supply of the entire secure communications system for several of the Turkish Navy’s sites and platforms, and the production of tactical radios for allied Countries in the region. In 2008, the company opened a sales branch in Istanbul, offering solutions, based on TETRA, GSMR, ATC and Wide Area Network technologies, to develop emergency communications. SELEX Turkey plant is located in Gölbası, near Ankara. It occupies a surface area of 36,000m² and employs around 75 highly-specialized staff.
