The category recognises the trailblazing sustainability-focused initiatives launched to minimise aviation’s contribution to climate change, through cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions.
The initiatives Saudia designed and led included a number of wide-ranging and transcontinental projects, including being named one of the First Partners of Saudi Arabia’s Carbon Market program; Introducing a ‘Green Points’ program for passengers; spearheading the first MENA region’s partnership with Lilium for all-electric jets; flying carbon-neutral flights between Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom for the 2022 Sabic London E-Prix Formula E races in London in July of this year, and running the world’s in-flight sustainability lab which resulted in SAUDIA winning the SkyTeam customer engagement category in the SkyTeam Sustainable Flight Challenge.
Saudia Group’s chief marketing officer Khaled Tash said: “Saudia’s sustainability programme is growing exponentially and is focused on embedding green enhancements throughout the entire organisation, taking a full 360 approach to aircraft operations and the guest experience. We are thankful for the recognition, and we look forward to expanding our initiatives even further.”
