Confirmation of this major achievement followed the final races of the season at Brands Hatch on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th October. Saturday’s racing saw Ahmad gain his sixth podium of the season with a brilliant third-place finish, whilst he achieved a hard-fought fifth place on Sunday after a spin three laps from the finishing line.

Speaking at Brands Hatch, Ahmad Al Harthy said: “It's been a fantastic season. I have enjoyed every minute and I want to take this opportunity to once again thank Oman Air for their invaluable support in helping to make this season such a success.

"The first thing I said at the start of the season was that I wanted to learn about this style of racing and to improve my driving. We have definitely done that and I am delighted to have finished so high up the table."

Oman Air’s sponsorship of Ahmad Al Harthy’s 2010 season followed his success in the 2009 Formula Renault BARC series, where he achieved the position of Vice Champion. It has aimed to raise awareness of the airline following the launch of its daily luxury service between London Heathrow and Oman’s capital of Muscat.

Oman Air’s Chief Officer Corporate Affairs, Philippe Georgiou, said: “We would like to congratulate Ahmad on a fantastic season, in which he has achieved notable success and provided a terrific role model for other young Omanis.

“Oman Air has been proud to sponsor him, particularly at a time when we have unveiled new aircraft and onboard products on our London to Muscat service. Our focus is on quality and innovation and Ahmad embodies those values superbly.

“We are pleased that he has been able to help raise awareness of the Oman Air brand across the UK and we look forward to seeing him reach even greater heights as his career develops.”
