Etihad unveils new Emirati-designed F1 uniforms

Etihad Airways, the title sponsor of the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, has unveiled its 2021 Formula 1 uniform, ahead of the final race of the season.

The race, which is a decider for the World Championship title, will take place this Sunday 12 December.

The new uniforms will be worn by Etihad Airways Cabin Crew at the exclusive Paddock Club at Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi. In the spirit of representing Abu Dhabi to the world, the airline selected an Emirati designer, Yara Bin Shakar, to create this year’s design.

The uniform is a sporty black jumpsuit featuring an asymmetrical wraparound belt, shaped and designed to represent the Formula 1 track at Yas Marina Circuit, with stitching on the belt that represents a take on traditional Emirati embroidery. Black was selected as it is a timeless colour, and the details of the Etihad colour palette are represented in the embroidery of the belt.

Yara Bin Shakar is an Emirati fashion designer, best known for designs that are reversible, practical and modest. Yara graduated from University of Sharjah with a Fashion and Textiles degree in 2013. The designer has since opened a concept store with her business partner, House of 45, which showcases both her own designs as well as supports other local brands in the UAE.
