ASHFAS and ESSA set to take place later this month

The ASHFAS 2019 and ESSA 2019 symposium is hosted by the Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) in partnership ESSA, the University of the Witwatersrand and Rhodes and proudly sponsored by ATNS, Tsogo Sun and COMAIR.

The symposium’s theme; Bridging the Gap Between Human Factors/Ergonomics Theory and Practice succinctly captures the essence of the three-day-event which will feature a keynote addresses from:

Prof Neville Stanton, Chair in Human Factors Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and the Environment at the University of Southampton in the UK;

Dr Steven Shorrock, Chartered Ergonomist and Human Factors Specialist with the CIEHF and a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society; and

Refilwe Ledwaba, a social entrepreneur, a qualified Pilot Fixed wing (CPL and Flight instructors) and Rotor wing (ATPL), and the founder of girls fly programme in Africa (GFPA) foundation.

The ASFHAS 2019 and ESSA 2019 two-in-one industry symposium is aimed at academics, students, government representatives, and industry professionals from the Ergonomics and Human Factors (E/HF), aviation safety and transport domains.

The event also encourages participation from other safety domains such as the maritime, mining, and healthcare industries.   Additionally, the ASHFAS 2019 and ESSA 2019 symposium extends beyond the country’s borders and aims to attract participation from the rest of the African continent and other global peers.
