The Typhoon has been selected by the Royal Saudi Airforce with the first aircraft now operational in the Kingdom. Eurofighter partners BAE Systems, who were responsible for the Saudi deal will be bringing an aircraft to the show.

Despite the fierce marketing of the Typhoon this is the first time the spectacular display of the aircraft's capabilities will have been seen at an air show in the region.

The multi-role aircraft, which is specially optimised for high-altitude, supersonic air combat, while retaining considerable ground-attack capabilities, will be flown by the UK’s Royal Air Force (RAF).

It is built by a four-nation consortium comprising BAE Systems of the UK, Alenia Aeronautica of Italy, EADS Deutschland and EADS Spain.

Alison Weller, Director of show organiser F&E Aerospace, said she was pleased to welcome the RAF to Dubai Airshow. “The appearance of the Typhoon jet at the show will confirm the Dubai Airshow’ will now really be a high-tech, state of the art military aviation display, illustrating the cutting edge nature of defence in the Middle East ,” she said.
