Saudi Air Force to get upgraded F-15S as part of modernisation deal
The Pentagon has confirmed a major upgrade of Boeing F-15S aircraft for the Saudi Arabian Air Force as part of a modernisation programme valued at more than $4 billion.
In an announcement from the US Government on Friday it was confirmed that the order covers conversion of 68 existing F15S jets to the new F15S-A configuration. The order was widely reported in June but had been awaiting the approvals from the US Government.
The work is to be undertaken at the Robins Air Force Base in Georgia and will be completed by the end of 2019. The Pentagon also said that the contract includes
spares and support equipment needed to achieve operating capability for the fighter jets.
The Saudi air force will have 150 F-15S aircraft in operation.
