Paris AirShow: Qatar takes more 777s and confirms B747-8 VIP

Qatar Airways announced an order for six Boeing 777-300ERs (Extended Range) and chief executive Akbar Al Baker confirmed that the airline will also be taking the second B747-8 VIP version for the private aviation fleet

The order for the 777s is valued at $ 1.7 billion at list prices.  

"We are expanding our international network rapidly and adding new routes and destinations that will extend Qatar Airways' reach across the globe, especially as we aim to open up more non-stop routes to popular and under-served cities around the world," said Al Baker,  "We currently have 25 Boeing 777s in our fleet and its payload and range capability, reliability and economics have made this aircraft the backbone of our long-haul fleet."

In November 2007, Qatar Airways took delivery of the first of a 32 Boeing 777 order. Exercise of options subsequently increased the order to 40 aircraft of which 15 are pending delivery.

This order was previously accounted for on Boeing's Orders and Deliveries website as unidentified in 2011.
