NBAA: Piaggio Jet - launch in May with Abu Dhabi in the frame

The company said at NBAA that it has embarked on a "new phase" in the development of its planned jet by beginning to line up partners and suppliers. A final go-ahead could be given by the company's board- jointy owned by Abu dhabi's Mubadala, Italy's Ferrari and Indiia's Tata group by the time of the next European show at EBACE.
Mubadala has been expessing a wish to fully manufacture a business jet in the emirate by 2018 and work with Strata - Mubadala's manufacturing arm has been progressing well and skills are being developed to tie in with the timeframe.
At the show Piaggio has also announced that the 203-strong fleet of Avanti II and its Avanti predecessor has passed the 500,000 flight hours milestone.
