And the industry is backing that call.

Captain Abdulrahman al Gaoud, Undersecretary of the Bahrain CAA was at the Geneva show this morning to sign up the 30th company for the Bahrain Air Show that takes place in Sakhir airbase   January 19-21 next year.

Swiss firm Comlux – which has already set up a base on the island Gulf state – signed the deal today following companies like Boeing, TAG, Mena Aerospace, Cessna, BAE Systems and Bell Helicopters.

“There are only forty chalets at the event. We have already sold 30 and we have 11 people chasing for contracts now,” Al Gaoud said.

“There has been a lot of concern about the situation in Bahrain but the state of national emergency is lifted at the end of the month, We are expecting the Formula One Grand Prix to return later in the year and as far as civil aviation – and business aviation in particular – is concerned things are going from strength to strength.”

A new FBO is being built and other improvements are taking place

Amanda Stainer, Exhibitions & Events Director for FIL commented: “Industry feedback after BIAS 2010 was extremely positive and undoubtedly the chalet sales to date reflect our client’s enthusiasm.  With so much of our chalet space now sold, still six months from the show, we are looking at new ways of accommodating those companies who wish to have a representation at BIAS 2012.  We are exploring a number of innovative ideas, additional to existing sponsorship opportunities, which will fit within the BIAS brand model to accommodate this increasing demand, whilst at the same time retaining our very high level of exclusivity.”
