Dubai Airshow: LearJet 60XR draws 'unprecedented interest' for Bombardier

Bombardier says that the LearJet 60XR has received more interest than any other jet of its class that the manufacturer has brought to the region. Khader Mattar regional vice president of sales EMEA said: “The interest we have received has been incredible. There is a strong possibility of a sale by the end of the show.”

He added that the OEM has never received such major attention for a new interior for a smaller jet, and attributes this to the fact the manufacturer took advantage of the interior produced by Jet Republic for the canned order for 110 Learjet 60XRs. When the sale collapsed with the demise of Jet Republic this year, it turned the swanky new design for the programme into the Signature Series Red, tweaking it slightly for a more corporate version named Signature Series Black. Both include new options such as swift broadband capability and an espresso machine.

Series Red features a stand-up cabin, including redesigned cabin seats with berthing capability, removable armrest caps and panels, as well as larger storage drawers. Streamlined side ledges allow for better ergonomics and a harmonious design throughout the cabin. The private aft lavatory includes an unveiled window for increased natural light, as well as a larger and more functional vanity cabinet.

Mattar also said that the Middle East market has changed over the last few years with the advent of more corporate clients using business aircraft rather than the traditional VVIP customers flying for their own needs. He said: “The Global still leads the market here, followed by the Challenger 605, but people are increasingly interested in smaller aircraft.”
