Suleiman Al Hamdan CEO of National Air Services said the airline is burdened by accumulated losses that may cause it to close down or suspend its operations.

“This may exacerbate the problems of the local air transport sector and would result in the loss of more than 1,000 job opportunities for Saudis   Al Hamdan, said

The airline – featured in the November issue of Arabian Aerospace -   has suffered heavy losses in the first quarter of this year due to a 25% year-on-year jump in fuel prices and a plummet in passenger numbers resulting of the political turmoil in a number of Arab countries that the carrier is serving, Hamdan said.

NAS has been putting pressure on the government for a “level playing field” with national carrier Saudi Arabian Airlines in areas like fuel taxes and ground handling charges.
