MK Airlines suspend freighter operations over financial worries.

The airline, which operates B747 freighters between Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East, has been in financial difficulty for some time and MK staff had been warned not to expect wages to be paid for seven or eight weeks due to cash-flow problems.
This week the freighter operator told customers it had become impossible to maintain the service and safety levels
African forwarding and logistics firm Panalpina Group said it has been informed by MK that the airline is "temporarily" halting services "due to a lack of adequate resources".
MK Airlines emerged last year from a period in
but has been operating with a reduced fleet of just three freighters since that time – ageing Boeing 747-200 and McDonnell Douglas DC-8 freighters -
compared with up to eight B747s three years ago.
Sources said promised additional funding from its new owners had not been forthcoming.
The UK Civil Aviation Authority said on Friday that the carrier still had its air operator's certificate but that situation is now under review and it seems likely that will be suspended when the UK opens for business on Monday.
