DAH manufactures Austrian airframer Diamond’s very light jet – the D-Jet.

Jamil Marmarchi, Medrar’s CEO, explained that his company sees a strong market for small high performance aircraft in regions like the Gulf and North America, where point-to-point airline travel can be time consuming and costly.

He said: “We are committed to supporting the programme every step of the way.”

Medrar may also offer financing to customers.

Diamond has a $350 million order backlog for the aircraft, which has suffered from a lack of funding. The new investment will be a shot in the arm for the VLJ, which will enters service in 2013, according to Peter Maurer, DAH’s Canadian president.

It is the second VLJ announcement at the Dubai Airshow, indicating that Middle Eastern customers may be warming to the idea of flying smaller business aircraft as the market matures.
