AB Aviation reaches deal with CAA to resume ops

The regulator moved to ground the carrier's EMB-120 D6-ABA on January 15 citing KMF224 million Comorian francs (USD480,000) in unpaid government taxes and dues thus severely disrupting its operations.
The agreement signed on Saturday, February 4, will see AB Aviation make a one-off payment of KMF67 million (USD145,619) corresponding to half the KMF134 million (USD291,238) it owes for the 2015/16 Financial Year. A payment plan covering the settlement of the remaining 50% as well as arrears relating to the 2012, 2013, and 2014 financial years will be devised in due course.
AB Aviation chief executive Ayad Bourhane said that with the signing of the agreement, the carrier now hopes to resume operations this week.
