According to The Tripoli Post, LAAHCO  has called for a change of name for the Libyan Handling and Aircraft Maintenance Services (LHAMS) which provides the service and the introduction of partner companies.

The restructure includes upgrading the provision of aircraft handling services as Libyan airports undergo development into international airline hubs and will also include the construction of a regional aircraft maintenance centre.
The regional centre will be created and managed jointly by LHAMS and a strategic partner – the joint venture is expected to be called  “Libyan Aircraft Engineering and Maintenance Company”, according to the paper.

The airport handling services business has been allocated to a new company, Shorooq Handling, which was created by LAAHCO, to specialise in passenger, cargo and ramp handling.

According to the newspaper, the restructuring has resulted in better financing for the maintenance company as it retains its capital and will keep all its engineers and technical staff, allowing the handling services to grow separately under the management of Shorooq Handling.

Shorooq Handling’s Chairman Dr. Amin Marghani told the newspaper that "the company's goal is to ensure that the passenger, cargo and aircraft handling at Libyan airports conforms to the service and product quality promised by the airlines to its customers."

Shorooq Handling will start providing handling to Afriqiyah Airways at Tripoli airport from  June 1. The handling services to Libyan Airlines and all other airlines will begin commercial operation in July.
