The agreement envisages the development of new passenger flights and cargo charter flights between the two airports, as well as training and manpower through CIAL.

“We have been looking at the market in Kerala for some time,” said Dr Khaled Al Mazroui, general manager of FIA. “This agreement will give further impetus to the trade between Kerala and Fujairah, as well as developing sufficient skilled manpower.”

CIAL managing director Dr Krishnadas Nair, added: “We have been very keen to explore the UAE market because of the large expat Kerala population and the strategic location of the UAE as a trade hub. Our agreement with FIA will provide better connectivity and an extended range of services between Kerala and Fujairah in general.”
