Currently Arabasco operates a facility at the Saudi capital’s airport and General Dynamics subsidiary Jet Aviation also provides FBO support there.

But the airport is undergoing major change and GACA is giving companies until Thursday to express an interest.

The Saudi government wants to see a modern, world-class private aviation terminal at KKIA that will both provide superior service and provide GACA with a strong financial return.

“Business partners will have ample opportunity for a profitable return on investment.” GACA said.

The site will include hangars and ramp space and two or more FBOs in the complex.

The RFP will be issued by the end of this month to companies that have emailed their interest and full documentation will be issued in June. GACA has said there is no requirement at this time to identify a local Saudi partner.

Saudi Arabia currently accounts for 50% of the MENA region’s business aviation.

Details of the bid process can be found on the GACA website www.gaca.gov.sa
