Majali re-elected for IATA board role

Majali, who was Chairman of the IATA Board from June 2008 to June 2009, will join the board once again at the Governors’ meeting scheduled to take place in Montreal, Canada on 4 December. He will be joining 30 CEO’s elected from leading airlines around the world
The members of the IATA Board of Governors led by their new Chairman Tony Tyler, CEO of Cathay Pacific, exercise an oversight and executive role on behalf of the membership as a whole in representing the interests of the Association.
“It is a great honour to serve once again on the Board of Governors of IATA, representing Gulf Air and the airlines in the region,” Majali said.
“IATA has been in the forefront of serving the global airline industry by setting new standards across the industry’ various functions, be it safety, customer service or environmental protection. During my tenure as the Chairman of the Governing body, I have personally seen the professional support it has been providing to the industry stakeholders with a wide range of products and expert services such as training and consulting, that has benefitted its members enormously.”
“As a member of the governing board I will be able to share, exchange and harness the collective knowledge and wisdom among other members of the Board so that the global aviation community can benefit from it,” concluded Mr. Majali.
IATA represents, leads and serves the global airline industry and over the past 60 years, has helped the global airline companies develop commercial standards, simplify processes and increase passenger convenience, while reducing costs and improving efficiency. Today IATA’s members comprise 230 airlines representing 93 % of scheduled international air traffic.
