Flydubai to launch from Dubai instead of Jebel Ali

Scheduled to start flying in the middle of 2009 the carrier had initially anticipated operating from Al Maktoum International airport in Jebel Ali but due to the deferred opening date of Al Maktoum.
Terminal 2 at Dubai International has been refurbished. Dubai Airports chief executive Paul Griffiths said: “Terminal 2 has seen tremendous growth over the past decade of its operation, due to its popularity as a convenient and flexible gateway for customers travelling into and out of Dubai.
“This make-over has given a fantastic boost to the facility, a new lease of life and a freshness that's sure to give us a thumbs-up in terms of customer satisfaction and comfort,” he added.
Flydubai’s chief executive Ghaith Al Ghaith said: “In terminal 2 we have found an ideal home that will allow us to bring efficiencies to our operations and a range of facilities and benefits to our customers.”
The low cost carrier is set to announce launch routes shortly and has said that it is finalising routes which are likely to include the Indian Subcontinent, north and east Africa, southeast Europe and the Middle East.
Flydubai has 54 Boeing 737-800s on order that will offer 189 economy seats.
