First set of Boeing 747-8F wings assembled

Boeing has completed major assembly of the first set of 747-8F wings. According to the manufacturer the new 135ft 3in (41.2 m) wings incorporate the latest aerodynamic technologies to fly farther and more efficiently. The advanced aerofoil provides improved overall performance and greater fuel capacity.

Boeing said the 747-8 Freighter and Intercontinental offer airlines the lowest operating costs and best economics of any large passenger or freighter airplane, while providing enhanced environmental performance.

While no Middle Eastern airlines have ordered the passenger variant, Dubai Aerospace Enterprise has five freighters on order and Emirates SkyCargo has 10 747-8Fs on order.
