The last flights to switch to the new terminal were the airline’s services to Beijing, New Delhli, Johannesburg and Mumbai on Monday.

The airline now flies to 31 destinations from Terminal 3 and the remaining 18 will continue to operate from Terminal 1.

The airline’s chief executive James Hogan said: “Our customers using our Abu Dhabi home base will benefit hugely from the significantly enhanced facilities at Terminal 3. It also means that the much-improved airport is now better equipped to meet the future expansion plans of the national airline of the UAE.

“The transfer of flights is supported by Etihad’s new passenger facilities, which include new premium lounges as well as improved check-in areas, including a designated check-in zone for our premium customers.”
