Dubai 2011: Records keep tumbling for ATR

During the first 10 months of the year ATR gained 145 firm orders plus a further 72 options that together are worth an impressive US$4.8bn. This increases the company’s backlog to 267, representing around four years’ production.
From the beginning of 2011 some 80% of the 50 to 90-seat regional aircraft sold throughout the world were ATRs.
ATR is well established in the Africa & Middle East region. It has more than 100 aircraft flying with 36 operators in 25 countries. Indeed, the company introduced into service the new ATR 72-600 with Royal Air Maroc in August 2011.
In the coming months, ATR will set up new MRO training facilities in Johannesburg, South Africa and in Bangalore, India.
Formed in 1981, ATR has grown to become the world’s leading manufacturer of advanced 50 to 74 seat regional turboprop aircraft, has sold more than 1,200 aircraft and has 179 operators in 91 countries. ATR operators have accumulated more than 21 million flights.
ATR is a 50/50 JV between major European aerospace companies Alenia Aeronautica (a Finmeccanica company) and EADS. Its headquarters are in Toulouse, France and ATR is certified to ISO 14001, the worldwide standard for environmental management and sustainability.
